Swedish National Arrested at Casablanca Airport on International Warrant
Moroccan police have arrested a Swedish national at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca based on an active Interpol Red Notice. The 68-year-old suspect, of Turkish origin, was detained immediately upon arrival from Turkey after a passport check flagged his name in the international criminal database.
The arrest was executed by officers of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), who coordinated closely with the National Central Bureau (NCB) in Rabat, Morocco’s liaison office with Interpol. According to officials, the man is wanted by Swedish authorities to serve a prison sentence for involvement in serious sexual violence committed in 2021.
The Red Notice was issued in early 2024, and Moroccan authorities acted swiftly once the suspect was identified. He was placed in preventive custody pending legal procedures to determine the course of extradition.
Strengthening Judicial Cooperation and International Law
The case underlines Morocco’s growing role in international judicial cooperation, especially in supporting the enforcement of transnational criminal law. By arresting suspects wanted abroad, Morocco strengthens its position as a trusted partner in global efforts against crime and impunity.
The country has actively modernized its law enforcement and border control systems to comply with international standards. Moroccan police frequently collaborate with Interpol, Europol, and other national security agencies to combat organized crime, cybercrime, and human trafficking.
Legal experts note that the extradition process will depend on existing bilateral agreements between Morocco and Sweden, as well as compliance with Morocco’s domestic legal safeguards, particularly those concerning human rights and due process.

أوقفت الشرطة المغربية مواطنًا سويديًا في مطار محمد الخامس الدولي بمدينة الدار البيضاء بناءً على نشرة حمراء صادرة عن الإنتربول. وقد تم توقيف المشتبه به، البالغ من العمر 68 سنة ومن أصول تركية، فور وصوله من تركيا، بعد أن كشف فحص جواز سفره عن اسمه في قاعدة البيانات الجنائية الدولية.
نُفذ الاعتقال من قِبل عناصر المديرية العامة للأمن الوطني (DGSN)، بالتنسيق مع المكتب المركزي الوطني (NCB) بالرباط، وهو الجهة المغربية المختصة بالتعاون مع الإنتربول. وبحسب السلطات، فإن المواطن السويدي مطلوب من قبل العدالة في بلاده لتنفيذ عقوبة سجنية على خلفية تورطه في اعتداءات جنسية خطيرة ارتُكبت سنة 2021.
وقد صدرت النشرة الحمراء في أوائل سنة 2024، وتصرفت السلطات المغربية بسرعة فور التعرف على المشتبه به. وقد وُضع تحت الحراسة النظرية بانتظار الشروع في الإجراءات القانونية المتعلقة بـ تسليمه.

ويشير خبراء قانونيون إلى أن تنفيذ إجراءات التسليم سيخضع للاتفاقيات الثنائية بين المغرب والسويد، إلى جانب التزامات المغرب القانونية المحلية التي تُراعي حقوق الإنسان وضمانات المحاكمة العادلة.
