64% of Construction Completed on Morocco’s Boulaouane Dam Project
Morocco has completed 64% of construction works on the Boulaouane Dam, a key infrastructure project located in the Doukkala-Abda region. Once finished, the dam will play a vital role in water storage, agricultural irrigation, and flood control in one of the country’s most productive agricultural zones.
With a projected capacity of over 100 million cubic meters, the Boulaouane Dam is part of Morocco’s national strategy to strengthen water security amid growing concerns over drought and climate variability. The structure is designed to regulate river flow, recharge aquifers, and supply water to rural communities.
The Ministry of Equipment and Water announced that the construction progress has been steady and on track for completion by 2026. The project also includes ancillary works such as pumping stations, canals, and safety infrastructure.
A Strategic Response to Climate Challenges
As Morocco faces increasing water stress, especially in inland and semi-arid regions, projects like Boulaouane have become central to the country’s resilience planning. The dam will help ensure consistent access to water for farmers, livestock, and households across the Doukkala plains.

إنجاز 64٪ من أشغال سد بولعوان في المغرب
أعلنت السلطات المغربية عن استكمال 64٪ من أشغال بناء سد بولعوان، وهو مشروع مائي إستراتيجي يقع في جهة دكالة عبدة. ومن المنتظر أن يلعب السد دورًا مهمًا في تخزين المياه، وري الأراضي الزراعية، ومكافحة الفيضانات في واحدة من أغنى المناطق الفلاحية في البلاد.
ويُقدر أن تبلغ سعة السد أكثر من 100 مليون متر مكعب، ويأتي في إطار الاستراتيجية الوطنية لتعزيز الأمن المائي، في ظل التحديات المرتبطة بالجفاف وتغير المناخ. ويهدف السد إلى تنظيم تدفق الأنهار، وتغذية الفرشات المائية، وتوفير المياه للسكان القرويين.
وأكدت وزارة التجهيز والماء أن وتيرة الأشغال تسير بشكل منتظم، ومن المتوقع الانتهاء من المشروع بحلول عام 2026. ويشمل المشروع أيضًا منشآت مساعدة مثل محطات الضخ، والقنوات، والبنية التحتية الوقائية.
استجابة استراتيجية لتحديات المناخ
مع تزايد أزمة ندرة المياه، خاصة في المناطق الداخلية وشبه الجافة، أصبح مشروع سد بولعوان عنصرًا رئيسيًا في جهود المغرب لتحقيق الاستدامة المائية. وسيساعد السد على ضمان وصول المياه بشكل مستدام للفلاحين والمواشي والسكان في سهول دكالة.
وقد تم إجراء دراسات للأثر البيئي لضمان تنمية مستدامة، كما تم اعتماد خطط للتخفيف من الأثر على التنوع البيولوجي المحلي. ويُتوقع أن يُوفر المشروع مئات فرص العمل، وينعش الاقتصاد المحلي خلال فترة الإنشاء وبعدها.
ويجسد سد بولعوان التزام المغرب طويل الأمد بـ تدبير الموارد المائية، بما يتماشى مع أهداف الخطة الوطنية للماء 2020–2050.
